SOUTH PARK (REIGATE) 1
VS KINGSTONIAN 2

Saturday 25th January 2025 | Attendance 207

The Sparks were disappointed not to pick up any points in a closely contested game against second placed Kingstonian.

The opening quarter of the game was very cagey and produced little goalmouth action. Vinnie Tume broke down the right and cut inside and his shot was saved by Liam Allen in the K’s goal. Kingstonian broke the deadlock in the 28th minute when the ball dropped to Eddie Simon 20 yards out his first time shot nestled in the bottom corner of the net. Park drew level two minutes later when Craig McGee’s curling 25 yard shot picked out the top corner of the net. Simon hit a free kick from 20 yards wide.

Jack Tucker made an excellent last ditch tackle to deny Bradley Wilson as he was about to shoot with just Danny Bracken to beat. Bracken then made a comfortable save from Simon’s header. With Park temporarily down to 10 men with Tucker off the pitch receiving treatment Kingstonian broke down the right, Wilson’s shot was parried by Bracken but the ball fell to Stan Flaherty to fire the loose ball into the roof of the Sparks net to give the visitors the lead. Perkins header from a corner from the right was headed off the line by Flaherty. Park pushed forward in the closing stages looking for an equaliser but Kingstonian’s defence stood firm to claim the points.

The Sparks travel to Met Police on Tuesday and then face Sutton Common Rovers at Carshalton Athletic on Saturday.
