The Sparks moved into the Preliminary Round of the Emirates FA Cup coming form behind to score a 93rd minute to defeat Newhaven.

It was the visitors who started brightly not allowing Park time on the ball and they had the first effort at goal with Tariq Vincent shooting wide from 18 yards. A good move form the Sparks saw Alex Keating play in Kai Hamilton-Olise down the right and his cross was came to Shamal Edwards off balance who lifted his shot over the bar. Vincen’s free kick from 25 yards was blocked by the Park wall. A loose pass form a new haven defender went straight to Keating whose shot came back off the post. Newhaven probably should have been awarded a penalty in the 32nd minute when Blunt went down under a challenge from Jerry O’Sullivan but the referee waved away the penalty appeals. Kai Hamilton-Olise’s cut back found his brother Jordan whose goal bound shot was pushed away by Roman Chiosa.

In the opening minute of the 2nd half Newhaven were awarded a penalty when Teddy Perkins was adjudged to have fouled Lee Robinson. Robinson hit the spot kick high over the Park bar. Chiosa in the Newhaven goal made an excellent save from Dan Moody’s 30 yard volley. Edwards had a shot blocked and moody shot wide. The deadlock was broken in the 65th minute when Ezra Roeg picked up a lose ball on the edge of the Park area and his shot flew into the Park net with the aid of deflection. Newhaven’s lead was short lived as six minutes later Edwards surged onto the Newhaven area and was brought down. Moody stepped up and sent Chiosa the wrong way with his spot kick. After Newhaven failed to clear a corner Will Seager’s shot hit the right hand post. Moody shot wide and then Chiosa made another excellent stop to keep out Craig McGee’s shot. In the 93rd minute Jack Tuckers corner caused confusion in the Newhaven area and the ball was played back across goal to Shamal Edwards to score form close range. Park saw out the remaining minutes to book their place in the next Round.​​​​​​
