The Sparks kicked off their league season in style with a 3-0 victory against a team tipped by many to be challenging at the top of the table at the end of the season.

 

Park looked a threat from the start. Kai Hamilton-Olise and Shamal Edwards both having shots saved by Aaron Watkins. Tyler Hayles fired over the bar for Hayes. Aki Hamilton-Olise’ s 20 yard shot thudded against the cross bar. As half time approached jack Tucker found Jerry O’Sullivan in space and his cross was headed home by Edwards however the assistant referee had flagged for offside so the goal was disallowed.

 

Early in the second half Alex Keating was put through but Watkins in the Hayes goal cleared the danger. Danny Bracken pushed away a shot from Zac Newton low down by the post. Dan Moody and O’Sullivan both blocked shots form the edge of he area as Hayes looked to get back in the game. The deadlock was broken in the 62nd minute when a corner from the right was only cleared to Moody 25 yards form goal and his left foot volley flew into the top corner of the new to the joy of the home crowd. Moody had another shot saved by Watkins. The Sparks doubled their lead in the 71st minute when Jordan Hamilton-Olise’s cross from the right found Edwards at the far post to score. Eight minutes later it was 3-0. This time Kai Hamilton-Olise cutting the ball back to his brother Jordan to fire into the roof of the net from 10 yards. There was still time for Watkins to deny Jordan Hamilton-Olise and Edwards. Park were determined to keep a clean sheet and O’Sullivan made a crucial challenge on the cover to snuff out a rare second half attack form Hayes & Yeading.

 

The Sparks travel to Leatherhead on Tuesday and then Face Epson & Ewell on Friday evening in the Preliminary Round of the Emirates FA Cup at Cobham. Both games kicking off at 7.45 pm.
