LEGEND STATUS!
Jerry “JJ” O'Sullivan reached the milestone of 350 appearances in Saturday's win over Hendon. It was appropriate that he did it at Whitehall Lane where he had made his debut 18 years ago on October 6th 2007, as a 17-year-old, when the club were playing in the Combined Counties Division 1.
There have been many highlights to his career at South Park. In season 2010-11 he was part of the team of local lads who were promoted from the Combined Counties Division 1 to the Combined Counties Premier, won both the Surrey Premier Cup and the Lemon Recordings Division 1 Cup.
In season 2013-14 he was still playing with many of the same squad who won the Combined Counties Premier Division, promoting the club to the Isthmian League. Then in 2017 he was part of the squad that travelled to Tranmere Rovers in the FA Trophy.
The character that is “JJ” is well known in non-league football and this character was demonstrated when in amongst the good times he had to battle back from two ACL injuries and battle back he did.
After over ten seasons at Whitehall Lane, Jerry left in order to pursue his ambitions to play at a higher level. He did this successfully at a few other clubs playing at step 2 and step 3. He has always hoped to return and did so in the second half of last season, where he was integral to helping South Park Reigate climb away from the relegation zone, contributing as a player, character and leader.
At 35, Jerry still has ambitions and would love to be part of a Sparks team that competes for promotion. With that in mind we could be celebrating his 400th appearance in time. Well done “JJ” from everyone at South park Reigate FC.
